History of Eagle Forum of Wisconsin
The following excerpts were taken from a speech given in
November, 1978 by Mary Dietrich Strosin, long time
past president of Eagle Forum of Wisconsin.
"Eagle Forum was started in 1972 and was known as "Stop
ERA" headed by national President Phyllis Schlafly. We
succeeded in defeating the Equal Rights Amendment which was an
anti-family, anti-woman and anti-life piece of legislation.
In 1975, it became clear that the ERA was only one of many
issues causing the breakdown of families, and so we changed
our name to Eagle Forum so that we could address such issues
as abortion, pornography, tax reform, national defense, the
draft of women, no fault divorce and federal day care for
children."
"We are proud to be part of this great movement in America
today and we take our direction from the scripture, as Isaiah
tells us: 'They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their
strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall
run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.' "
Future goals of Eagle Forum of Wisconsin
We wish to thank all of the Eagles who have faithfully served
over the past 30 years, and we are committed to continue
defending the unborn, traditional families and sovereignty of
our nation. We are especially thankful for our visionary
national president, Phyllis Schlafly, for founding Eagle
Forum.
Phyllis was right! Recently, a
Massachusetts judge ruled its state legislature must pass a
law allowing same sex marriage based upon an ERA amendment
added to the Massachusetts's constitution.
Once again, our issues have expanded to include protecting our
borders from those who break laws to enter our nation
illegally, repealing unfair trade agreements such as
NAFTA that favor cheap foreign imports over American
manufactured products, opposing activist judges who ignore the
clear language of our Constitution, defending property rights,
and protecting parental rights in the education and upbringing
of their children. We must also be vigilant against external
threats from rogue nations and radical Islamists.
Eagle Forum of Wisconsin is non-partisan and consists of
volunteer activists who believe in limited government based on
a strict interpretation of the Constitution; one flag, the
American flag; and one language, the English language. If you
share these beliefs and values, we invite you to join our
efforts and become a member.
